TASTE THE LOCAL FLAVOURS

SAMPATIKI – BY THE SEA

Around Sampatiki, food is not something you rush. It is part of the place: a table by the harbour, fresh fish, simple dishes, warm hospitality and the sound of the sea doing half the work.

Start close to home, around Sampatiki’s picturesque harbour. Porto Sampatiki is a traditional seaside taverna serving fresh fish, authentic Greek cuisine and generous portions just a few steps from the water.

At the entrance of the village, Klimataria offers traditional Greek home-style cooking with beautiful views over the bay, making it an ideal choice for a relaxed lunch or dinner.

For breakfast, coffee or a light snack by the sea, Apanemo is the perfect place to begin or end your day.

LEONIDIO – WHERE LOCALS GO

Just a 10-minute drive from Sampatiki, Leonidio is the cultural heart of the area. Wander through its charming streets, admire the traditional Tsakonian architecture and discover cafés, restaurants and local shops at your own pace.

Start your morning with coffee and brunch at Kalye or Kasseta, two favourite meeting spots for both locals and visitors.

For lunch or dinner, Kalye Cuisine offers a creative interpretation of Greek cuisine using fresh seasonal ingredients. En Leonidio combines traditional flavours with homemade pizza, while Mouria is well known for its authentic Greek dishes served in a beautiful garden setting.

For something even more traditional, Mitropoli is a local favourite for home-style cooked dishes, generous flavours and the kind of Greek food that feels like it came straight from a family kitchen.

As the evening comes, return to Kasseta for cocktails and drinks before enjoying a leisurely stroll through Leonidio’s lively streets.

A LITTLE FURTHER…

If you feel like exploring beyond Leonidio, two nearby seaside villages are well worth a visit.

Plaka is perfect for a relaxing walk by the sea, followed by fresh seafood at Psaras, one of the area’s favourite fish tavernas.

A little further south, Poulithra offers a peaceful waterfront setting where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine at Myrtoo, right beside the sea.

TYROS – TOWARDS ATHENS

Heading north from Sampatiki towards Athens, Tyros is another charming seaside village worth visiting.

For lunch or dinner by the sea, Remezzo, Akrogiali, Acapulco and Flisvos all offer fresh seafood and traditional Greek flavours in a relaxed waterfront setting.

For coffee, a sunset drink or a light meal with panoramic views over the Argolic Gulf, Balconi is a favourite local choice.

On your way back towards Athens, Tasos Taverna is another excellent stop, offering authentic Greek cuisine, cooked dishes, grilled favourites and delicious homemade sweets worth taking with you for the journey home.
