Traditional Villages
Pragmatefti – The Village Above Sampatiki
Your first stop is Pragmatefti, the traditional village overlooking Sampatiki.
With stone houses, peaceful lanes and panoramic views over the Myrtoan Sea, it preserves the authentic character of South Kynouria. Before leaving, take a short walk to the small Chapel of Agios Nikolaos, perched above the settlement, for one of the area’s most peaceful viewpoints.
Kosmas
After visiting Elona, continue to the mountain village of Kosmas.
Its shaded central square, traditional cafés and welcoming tavernas make it the perfect place to enjoy lunch before returning to the coast.
Beyond the Main Route
If you enjoy exploring beyond the well-known attractions, take time to discover some of South Kynouria’s traditional mountain villages.
Tsitalia, Peleta and Vaskina remain beautifully authentic, with stone-built houses, quiet churches and mountain landscapes that reveal a slower, more traditional side of the Peloponnese.
In the opposite direction, towards Athens, you can visit Ano Tyros, the old village of Tyros, with traditional stone houses and beautiful sea views. A little further north, Pera Melana is another charming Tsakonian village, known for its authentic character, local traditions and panoramic views across the Parnon slopes.
